Songezo Zantsi

Songezo Zantsi is a Cape town born and based multidisciplinary mixed-media contemporary artist, born in 1991. Studied Art & Design at college of Cape Town, graduated in 2017. Worked in the design industry for two years showcasing in Design Indaba 2018 and 2019 with GoldBottomPots, then started his solo career in 2019. In 2019, he joined the Association For Visual Arts (AVA) Gallery on their installation crew training program which he completed in 2020. In 2021, he became part of a group exhibition at Association For Visual Arts (AVA) Gallery titled IDENTITY. Black brick X AVA Gallery group exhibition 2021. ArtWeekend - Shakes group exhibition 2021. Internship at Zeitz Mocaa 2021. 2021 two artworks collected by Art Bank through AVA gallery. 2022 group exhibition WE.ARE.WOMAN at YoungBlood gallery Cape town.

Songezo’s work explores within cultures that encompasses social behaviours, rituals, customs, traditions, and beliefs faced by different ethnic groups. His work conceptions are mostly based in personal experience and multilayered references. The installations consists of sourced and found objects that are extensions of the narrative carried by the mixed-media contemporary artworks as a way of oversimplifying his visual language.
