Kelvin Osoro

Kelvin is 22 years old. He is currently in his second year at Moi University, where he is working toward a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. He was first introduced to art and painting when he joined Uweza’s art program when it launched in 2011.

The subjects and themes that he enjoys painting include abstracts, landscapes, and realism. He hopes, through his work, to convey positive messages about Kibera, Kenya, and Africa.

His greatest challenge so far in life is a lack of school fees for his education. It is only through the sales of his artwork that he was able to complete high school and pay for his fees and living expenses at university.

In the future, he dreams of starting his own business and creating employment for himself and for other youth from Kibera. He also wants to continue to pursue his talent as an artist.

According to Kelvin, participating in Uweza Art Gallery has helped him through paying his school fees and providing him exposure to artists, exhibitions, and parts of Kenya that he might not otherwise have visited.
