Boniface "Ibrah" Ooko

Ibrah is 23 years-old and joined Uweza Art Gallery in 2016. He grew up in Kibera and is currently a student at Kreston College studying Human Resources. Art has always been an important part of his life and when he is not painting or in school, he is modeling, which he views as another form of art and self-expression.

His favorite subjects to paint are the faces of African women and African landscapes because he likes to showcase the beauty of Africa through his art and finds happiness in promoting African culture.

In the future, he hopes to pursue Human Resources and modelling as career paths while keeping art as an important part of his life. The sales from his artwork at Uweza Art Gallery have helped to pay some of the costs of his college tuition. He also hopes to volunteer to teach and encourage upcoming new artist.

Ibrah’s message to anyone who views his art: “I am always optimistic about what the future holds and always working on turning my weaknesses into strengths. Sharing my art helps me to do so.”
